Stop 21 – Blacksmith Shop

About

Historic Landmark Trail Stop 21:

This stone building was built by Karl Strohecker, an immigrant from Wurttemberg, Germany, who arrived in Pheasant Branch about 1857. Strohecker was not the area’s first blacksmith, however. Already established when Strohecker arrived was John Prien, who later moved his business to downtown Middleton. Tax records from 1867 document the reconstruction of Strohecker’s original shop as the present stone building.

Status: This building is currently a rentable office space and is not open to the public.
