It’s time to make a list and check it twice so you don’t miss any of Middleton’s festive offerings this holiday season. From shopping hotspots to winter recreation, there are plenty of ways to feel merry and bright in the Good Neighbor City.
Where to shop
Find something for everyone on your list—and maybe pick up a few “treat yourself” items, too—at Middleton’s welcoming retailers. In downtown Middleton, you’ll find unique shops and eateries like Barriques (food, wine, coffee & more), Chauette Fashion & Home (boutique filled with unique clothing and home goods), Journeyman Co. (made-in-the-U.S. men’s clothing), the one-of-a-kind National Mustard Museum and The Regal Find (local, handmade and vintage art and gifts). See a full list of downtown businesses here.
Head to Greenway Station, a 51-acre shopping and dining hub on Middleton’s west side, to browse the selection at more than a dozen stores, including Pendleton, Marshalls, DSW and more. And don’t forget to snap a selfie in front of the colorful Christmas tree at the main roundabout!
Looking for a fun at-home project? In addition to selling wonderful made-from-scratch pastries, cookies and more, Clasen’s European Bakery sells take-home gingerbread house kits so you can craft your own holiday creation. Clasen’s is also home to the kid-sized gingerbread house — swing by and snap a photo in front of this magical creation!
Much about this year is different than winters past, but the joy of discovery will never change. Families have an opportunity to discover the beauty and fun of winter through Middleton’s second StoryWalk® with “The Snowy Day.” This winter StoryWalk® takes place in downtown Middleton Nov. 18, 2020-Jan. 18, 2021. Click here for more details!
VIRTUAL TREE LIGHTING & FUN
The City of Middleton’s Holiday Tree Lighting Event will take place completely virtually this year, Saturday, Nov. 21, via the City of Middleton’s Public Lands, Recreation & Forestry Facebook page and Middleton Recreation YouTube Page. Locals can pick up materials for games like Bingo and Name that Tune, which require advance registration in order to receive the Zoom link. We look forward to seeing you all virtually this year! GREENWAY STATION HOLIDAY TREE
Looking for the perfect holiday tree backdrop? Greenway Station in Middleton has put up its holiday tree.
When the snow flies, you’ll discover great routes for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in Middleton. Trails are groomed for skate skiing and classic cross-country skiing at Pleasant View Golf Course; try one or all four of the course’s loops, which vary in difficulty and reach up to 2½ miles in length. Strap on a set of snowshoes and explore the ungroomed trails at Pheasant Branch Conservancy or head to nearby Governor Nelson State Park to find more than 8 miles of cross-country ski trails.
