One of the most festive times of year has arrived! Middleton is home to fall events that are as colorful as the autumn leaves. Some fun events are on deck this month: browse the selection at a farmers market, lace up your shoes for a weekend race or take your little one to a Halloween happening. Here’s a look at what’s taking place this October.
The final days of the outdoor farmers markets have arrived. It’s been a great growing season and our vendors are loaded with a cornucopia of fall produce. Select a carving pumpkin or a baking squash or pick some delicious vegetables for your fall table. Get to the market now: our farmers market runs May through October from 8am-1pm each Thursday at Greenway Station. Learn more about the markets.
How fast can a pumpkin run? Find out at the Haunted Hustle races. The annual costume-themed race takes place Oct. 19-20 at Middleton’s Keva Sports Center. Saturday’s events include a kids’ race, 5K, and 5K Stroller Derby along with a great post-race bonfire, s’mores and live music. Sunday morning racers put their training to the test with the 10K and a challenging half marathon (13.1 miles), ending the weekend with the Haunted Hustle Finish Festival.
Downtown Trick or Treat
Ghosts and goblins will descend on downtown Middleton for this annual fall event. Kids don their costumes and circulate through businesses in our charming downtown. There are more than 30 participating businesses including restaurants and retailers— look for a pumpkin on the door to know if there are treats inside. The event takes place from 3-5 pm, Friday, Oct. 25.
Less than 10 minutes from Middleton are two locally owned pumpkin patches – Kalscheuer’s Pumpkin Patch (located at 7054 County Road K) and Heise Pumpkin Patch (located at 4950 High Road – just follow Parmenter out of town), which are both open through Oct. 31. About 15 minutes out of town is Enchanted Valley Acres in Cross Plains.
