The Joinery, Middleton’s membership woodworking community, will host its second annual Joinery Fest on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The free, family-friendly event brings together local makers, artists, and craftspeople for a morning of demonstrations, hands-on projects, and food.
This year’s festival features free brats and snacks, birdhouse kits for kids to build on site, live glass blowing demonstrations, a showcase of member-built projects, and presentations from a range of local vendors and craftspeople.
“Last year showed us there’s a real appetite in this area for a place where people can watch things get made and then go make something themselves,” said Steven Ricks, owner and principal craftsman of The Joinery. “That’s the whole idea. Bring the kids, eat a brat, watch someone blow glass, and leave with a birdhouse you built.”
The Joinery is a membership-based woodworking shop and learning community serving adult beginners, hobbyists, and experienced makers in the Middleton and greater Madison area. Members get access to a fully equipped shop, and The Joinery offers classes year-round covering everything from machine safety and shop fundamentals to furniture building, turning, and finishing. No prior experience is required, and staff and members alike will be on hand during the festival to answer questions about membership and upcoming classes.
Admission is free and open to the public. Whether you’re an experienced maker, a curious beginner, or just looking for a good Saturday with the family, Joinery Fest has something worth showing up for.
