Fish fry

Whether you’re craving a fillet of cod or want some walleye, you’ll find plenty of places in Middleton to find a delicious fish fry.  Mid Town Pub on Middleton’s north side offers some tasty Friday seafood options, including Lemon Pepper Grilled Cod, Beer Battered Cod, Battered Shrimp and Coconut Shrimp. Head to 1847 at the Stamm House on Fridays for their beer-battered walleye, fried cod or baked cod — they even offer a 12-piece family fish fry.

Cheese curds

On second thought, maybe this is the best example of a truly classic Wisconsin cuisine. Crispy, gooey and delicious cheese curds can be found on menus throughout Middleton, so you’ve got lots of options to choose from. Craftsman Table & Tap gets their curds from Wisconsin’s own Carr Valley Cheese and serves them in a beer batter with a side of Craftsman buttermilk dressing. Monk’s Bar & Grill offers classic Wisconsin white cheddar curds served with marinara sauce.

Sweet treats

Treat your sweet tooth with a world-famous pie (or a bite-size pie taco) from Hubbard Avenue Diner. Find delicious cakes, pastries, breads and more at Clasen’s European Bakery or load up a waffle cone at Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream.

Drinks

Raise a glass with a wine and cheese party to go or other kits (including the Treat Yo’ Self Kit, Wine & Chocolate Tasting Kits, or Can & Craft Kits) at Grape Water Tap Wine Bar.

The Nitty Gritty, the area’s official “birthday bar,” offers not only a to-go party package (which includes a birthday mug, a bottled beer for those over 21, a cake and balloons) but also a variety of other cocktail kits, including Bloody Marys, mimosas and the classic Old Fashioned. Cocktail kits are available for pickup from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Longtable Beer Cafe offers great food as well as self-serve beer coolers stocked with more than 300 varieties of beer — put together your own six-pack to enjoy at home.

Plus, you can find festive brews from Capital Brewery — including the now-in-season Oktoberfest — at the brewery’s Bier Garten and stores throughout the area.
