For more than 25 years, Capital Brewery has been bringing a rich variety of craft beers to the people of Middleton.  Founder Ed Janus and partner Anthony Frey set out to bring “real beer” to Wisconsin and in April of 1986, the brewery produced its first of many delicious victories – Garten Brau, rich and dark and very different from what folks in the area were used to.

Capital Brewery now produces seven annual beers that can be enjoyed all year long, with an eighth soon to join the mix on April 1, 2013. They brew even more seasonal beers, like the smooth and golden Mailbock (available now through April), the rich, malty Oktoberfest, and the full-bodied Winter Skal.

The first taste of Capital’s seasonal brew, Blonde Doppelbock, comes at their annual winter beer festival, Bockfest. Held in late February, thousands brave the cold, Wisconsin winter and gather in the Bier Garten to celebrate the brewery’s annual release of its famous beer with food, costumes, live music and the tossing of a few smoked chubs.

Want a behind-the-scenes look at Capital Brewery? They offer tours Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Enjoy their brews in their Bier Stube from November to April, and during milder weather, outdoors in the Bier Garten, where there’s often live music and dancing.
