A winter brouhaha at Capital Brewery

With new brews and fun events on tap, late winter is exciting time of year at Capital Brewery!

Late February brings the brewery’s annual celebration of the first batch of Blonde Dopplebock beer, Bockfest. The party involves (of course) great beer, costumes, live music, a fun run and a smoked chub tossed from the roof of the brewery.

There wouldn’t be a Bockfest without Capital’s Blonde Doppelbock. A strong lager described as having “hearty but smooth malt flavors,” the release of this seasonal brew is a sure sign that spring is right around the corner.

In March, Capital celebrates Starkbierfest, with tastings of strong “starkbiers” from around the area. The origins go back hundreds of years to monks fasting during Lent,  and indulging instead in strong beers made with less water and more grain. Like Bockfest, this fun event spotlights beer along with live music, food and brewers from across Wisconsin.
