In the heart of downtown Middleton, you’ll find a museum like no other. The National Mustard Museum is a shrine to all things sweet and spicy. The museum is one of Wisconsin’s most popular tourist attractions, holding nearly 6,000 mustards from around the world. Seeing the spectacle of all those jars is reason enough to visit the museum, but there’s more to this place than mustard seed and vinegar.
Think there’s not much to know about mustard? Think again. Downstairs in the “Mustardpiece Theater,” visitors discover the finer points of this classic condiment. Grab a seat and be prepared to learn and laugh.
The museum has a Tasting Bar that invites visitors to sample familiar and not-so-familiar offerings. Try mustard flavors like chocolate, blue cheese, cranberry, tequila and wasabi. There are so many deliciously exotic flavors to try and buy, it can be difficult to choose!
Looking for a gift, or perhaps a little something for yourself? You can’t go wrong with mustard! Pick up a classic yellow mustard or grab an unusual flavor like bloody mary or lavender wine. You’ll also find the latest mustard-themed fashions as well as chutneys, salsas, hot sauces, dessert toppings, preserves and more.
